Day 01: Chandigarh to Narkanda
Distance: 175 km | Drive Time: 6 to 7 Hours
The Experience: Leaving the plains of Chandigarh, you quickly ascend via the Himalayan Expressway. The drive through the Parwanoo-Shimla four-lane highway is smooth and scenic. As you bypass Shimla, the air turns crisp and the vegetation shifts from subtropical to dense pine and cedar forests.

Theog: A charming town offering panoramic views of the distant snow peaks.
Arrival in Narkanda: Known as the "Gateway to the Apple Country," Narkanda sits at 2,700m. If time permits, drive up to Hatu Peak for a 360-degree view of the Himalayas.
Day 02: Narkanda to Tabo
Distance: 240 km | Drive Time: 9 to 10 Hours
The Experience: This is one of the most dramatic drives in India. You descend to the banks of the Sutlej River at Rampur and then enter the rugged terrain of Kinnaur. The road is often carved into the cliffs—a feat of engineering known as the Titanic Cut.

Khab Confluence: Watch the Spiti River meet the muddy Sutlej.
Nako Village: A high-altitude oasis with a sacred lake and ancient monastery.
Maling Nallah: A notorious but thrilling water crossing.
Arrival in Tabo: You have officially entered the Spiti Valley. The landscape is now a "cold desert.
Day 3: Tabo Sightseeing
Tabo Monastery: Founded in 996 AD, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site often called the Ajanta of the Himalayas. Its mud walls house ancient thangkas, murals, and life-sized stucco statues that have survived a millennium.
Tabo Caves: Hike for 15 minutes to the meditation caves used by monks for centuries. The view of the entire Tabo village from here is breathtaking.
Dhankar Monastery (Detour): On your way to Kaza, visit Dhankar, a monastery perched precariously on a cliff edge. It looks like it could slide into the Spiti River at any moment
Day 4: Kaza Sightseeing
Key Monastery: The most iconic image of Spiti. This fort-like monastery is home to hundreds of lamas and offers a deep sense of peace.
Kibber & Chicham Bridge: Visit one of the highest inhabited villages and cross the Chicham Bridge, the highest suspension bridge in Asia over a 500-foot deep gorge.
Langza: Home to the giant Golden Buddha statue and marine fossils.
Hikkim: Send a postcard from the World’s Highest Post Office.
Komic: The highest village connected by a motorable road.
Day 5: Chandratal Sightseeing
Distance: 100 km | Drive Time: 4 to 5 Hours
The Experience: Leaving Kaza, you head toward
Kunzum Pass (4,551m): The descent from Kunzum toward the lake is rough and narrow.
Chandratal (Moon Lake): Named for its crescent shape, the lake is a turquoise gem at 4,250m. Since camping is banned at the lake's edge, you will stay in eco-camps 2 km away.
Evening Magic: Walk to the lake for sunset. The water reflects the Chandra Bhaga range like a mirror. At night, the sky at Chandratal offers one of the clearest views of the Milky Way in the world.
Day 6: Chandratal to Manali
Distance: 130 km | Drive Time: 7 to 8 Hours
The Experience: This is the "adventure stretch." The road from Batal to Gramphu is essentially a boulder track with multiple **glacier-melt water crossings (Pagal Nallahs).
Chacha-Chachi Dhaba (Batal): A mandatory stop for hot dal-rice and legendary hospitality.
Atal Tunnel: Enter the 9.02 km tunnel at Tandi/Sissu and emerge into the lush green landscape of Manali, leaving the dry desert behind.
Day 7: Manali to Chandigarh
Distance: 270 km | Drive Time: 7 to 8 Hours
The Experience: The return journey is much faster thanks to the **Kiratpur-Manali Expressway
Final Beauty: Enjoy the drive alongside the Beas River through Kullu and Mandi. Pass through several long tunnels that bypass the old traffic-heavy mountain curves, reaching Chandigarh by evening.
